I think the article is a bit bias. I've opened account with 000webhost and they don't even offer any form of encryptio to the free accounts. I understand it's free and the age old saying is that you get what you pay for but they could atleat provide their users with ftps to protect their ftp uploads or at very least allow encrypted authentication so that others cannot just intercept your login details. The details in the article refer to the paid service. The free service doesn't include ssh either.
