Glossary of 12 common words and phrases

The analysis of web hosting plans, such as those described on this site, make use of jargon. This is actually an entire language specific to the field of web hosting. This short glossary will provide you some brief definitions to know before you embark in search of a hosting site. Number of Internet Protocol (Internet Protocol (IP) Number)

IP addresses identify hosts, networks and your computer the same way that the address you indicated in your city, street name and number of your house.
Domain Name Top of page

title and address of your site. example: www.your-domaine.com
URL (Uniform Resource Locator) top

This is the classic form in which the address of a site appears on the Internet. The first part indicates the protocol used and laseconde, the domain name (eg "aol.com")

This is a company that provides Internet access or by telephone through a modem, DSL or cable connection. And feel free to browse as you wish on your browser.
Audio Streaming top

This option provides the audio content of your site. Because it consumes too much bandwidth, it can be included in the hosting services. Check carefully before you commit, be sure to omit any itemnécessaire.
Bandwidth top

This is the amount of data used during an Internet connection. Large sites require a housing program that offers more bandwidth than a little. Prices vary, so you must learn to properly represent the cost of future additions for your site.

CGI (Common Gateway Interface) top

It is a hidden password that prevents the entry of hackers in a site by registering as an identifier other than its owner. Be sure to locate this option from security options of the housing program of your choice.
