Tutorial: How to host a site and put online-Step by Step

To simplify this tutorial, we'll assume that you already have basic knowledge of HTML and have already created your website. The process is actually very simple, these four steps should help you get a website online in no time.
Step 1: Registering a domain name

Registering a domain name is easy and there is no configuration necessary until you decide to choose a hosting plan that goes with it. You must think the choice of domain name before saving. There are several registrars as: 1and1.fr (partie francophone) and godaddy.com (registrar English). Their control panels are easy to use and offer total control over your domain.

It is also possible to receive a free domain name provided by your host. At this point you do not have to worry about registering your domain name elsewhere

Step 2: Sign up with a hosting provider web

In view of simplifying this tutorial will focus on what we believe is the most common type of cheap accommodation available. This is shared hosting or shared. The web host is where you go and download all the files (HTML, php, pictures, photos, videos, mp3 etc. ..) from your web site. You can view this article on how to choose a hosting without getting scammed or visit our Guide to choosing a web host. Make sure the hosting plan best meets the needs of your website.
We price the example of an American host JustHost which we believe offers excellent value for money. To learn more about JustHost you can check his record. You can also consult the list of hosts French, American or Canadian if our example does not suit you.
Here are the steps for creating an account at JustHost

After registering, you should receive by mail some important information that you will start working on your account and quickly put your site online:

* The server's IP address and / or link to connect the control panel.
* Your login account (username / password) to use with the control panel (in this case the Cpanel).
* The address of two name servers (DNS) to use with your domain name. (Typically NS1 and NS2.EXAMPLENAMESERVER.COM)

Step 3: Upload your website on my server

You can download the graphics and html files with a file handler supplied through the control panel (Cpanel) or use a free FTP software like Filezilla. There is no difference between the two. You choose the one you find most convenient.
Before downloading files in current directory (folder) where files will be downloaded. There is usually a directory "root" (root) and a "root web" (web root). The root user is above the "Web root" and is not available from the www (World Wide Web). The Web is the root of your page where all files must be downloaded. The web root folder is commonly called "/ public_html" or "/ htdocs" or "/ wwwroot".

Ok! enough theory) from the practice.

Step 4: Point your domain to your hosting

Now that you have a domain name and hosting account, you need to link them so when someone types the name into a browser, they have used the files you have downloaded. This step is not necessary if you had your domain name from your current host.
Here are the steps to manage your DNS domain name:

* Log in to your account
* Click on Manage domains and click or select the domain name you want
* After clicking the domain name you want to manage, choose the menu, which changes the DNS settings (some call the registrar "Transfer DNS hosting)
* You should now have a page with a maximum of five or six fields empty. This is where you enter the server names (DNS) provided by your host (and not the domain host) when you registered. Enter the two server addresses in the first two boxes and click save or submit.

That's all there is to do the DNS settings take time to propagate throughout the Internet. Do not therefore expect that these changes are undertaken immediately. They may take several minutes to 48 hours to see your website online.
